Dodge City Receives State Awards

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Dodge City has been working hard to improve the city and for that effort they were honored recently. Three different city/county projects were named Public Works Project of the Year by the American Public Works Association.

The first project Honored was Long Branch Lagoon, which has exceeded expectations in it’s first year of operations, for structure over $5 million but less than $25 million.

The second award went to Boot Hill Monument & Cowboy Restoration project for historical restoration/preservation.

The third project awarded was Primary Life Station Screening Building Improvements for Environment. The project removes waste and debris from the sewer waste stream that won’t decompose according to Dodge City Construction Manager Ray Slatterey.

City Public Information Director Jane Longmeyer says receiving the awards is big for the city.
