Harvest Time Getting Closer for Kansas Wheat
AP- The Kansas wheat crop is continuing to turn color signaling that harvest time is nearing.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service reported Monday that 23 percent is colored, which is ahead of the 14 percent at this time last year. 94 percent of the crop has headed.
8 percent is considered very poor, wit 16 percent in poor shape. 29 percent is considered in fair shape, 40 is viewed as good, with 7 percent in excellent shape.
70 percent of the corn planting is complete, while 27 percent of the soybeans and 4 percent of the sorghum is sown.
30 percent of the alfalfa hay has been cut.
