GCHS Softball Sweeps Two from Dodge City

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City high school softball team swept a double header at Dodge City yesterday 13-0 in five innings and 11-2. The wins improve the Lady Buffaloes to 13-5 overall and finish WAC play for them at 8-0. 

The two losses drops Dodge City to 10-8 overall and 2-6 in WAC play. 

Abbie Dart was terrific on the mound in game one for the Lady Buffaloes streaking out eight in four inning of works. Dart’s sister Halley was impressive in the second game pitching six innings striking out four and giving up only one run. Yazmin Vargas pitched the final inning of both contests. 

Garden City’s offense was equally impressive Morgan Cabral hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning of game two to put an exclamation point on the win.

After the games we got a chance to catch up with Garden City coach Trina Moquett and she was pleased with the win.

Garden City will close out the regular season Thursday at home when they host Colby. Dodge City will host Liberal Thursday in their last regular season game.
