Dart’s no-no sparks Buffalo sweep of Liberal
Liberal, KS-It is not hard to fathom that as Abbie Dart goes, so do the 2017 Buffaloes.
Well you can add her younger sister into that mix as well.
Hailey Dart was superb, tossing a no-hitter in a 19-0 rout of Liberal in game two before the elder Dart, Abbie, struck out 16 in the opener in a 14-2 demolition.
“Everything was working,” (Hailey) Dart said. “And we limited our mistakes behind our pitching. That was huge.”
The two victories stopped a four-game losing streak as Garden City improved to 6-2.
In the first game, the Buffaloes used a seven-run, third inning sparked by Erykah Foster’s two-run single. They finished off the afternoon with a five-run seventh.
In the finale, the Buffaloes went right to work, plating 12 in a first inning that saw Garden City send 16 players to the plate. Ryleigh Whitehurst and Morgan Cabral each knocked in six runs.
While the offense was cooking, (Hailey) Dart was dealing in the circle. Her only blemish: a one-out walk in the bottom of the first. She finished the day retiring the final eight hitters she faced.
