City Commission Raises Tobacco Age to 21
Garden City, KSW (westernkansasnews.com) Fifteen other communities have raised the legal age for tobacco purchases and possession from 18 to 21. Beginning July 1st the same can be said for Garden City.
Pushed by the T-21 Coalition a group of Garden City High School students and helped by Live Well Finney County the city commission approved changing the ordinance 4-1 on Tuesday. Hannah Schultz with T-21 on why they feel raising the age will make an impact.
Fines for underage possession will be $25. Businesses can also be fined under a class B misdemeanor for underage sales including e-cigs.
