Basilio Olguin Lira
He was born on December 15, 1955 to Roberto Olguin and Leandra Lira at San Gil Nieves Zacatecas, Mexico.
In October of 1976 he married Eloina Chairez at the Apaseo Nieves Zacatecas, Mexico. She survives.
As a child in Mexico he enjoyed riding horses going to rodeos. In 1981 he moved his family to the United States. Basilio and Eloina previously lived in Hereford, TX before moving to Liberal in 1989. He had worked for National Beef Packing and then Liberal Mobile Home. He retired in 2001. In his retirement he enjoyed taking care of his Goats, Sheep and Chickens. He enjoyed visiting with and helping people. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Basilio was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Liberal.
Basilio is also survived by Five Sons, Basilio Olguin Chairez, Jr. of Liberal, KS, Roberto Olguin of Liberal, KS, Manuel Olguin and wife Maria of Tulsa, OK, and Luis Olguin and wife Nancy of Turpin, OK; Pedro Ochoa and wife Aracely of Optima, Oklahoma One Daughter, Mayra Olguin of Liberal, KS; Nine Grandchildren; 10 Brothers, Arturo Gonzalez of Twin Lake, Wisconsin, Armando Olguin of Dallas, Texas, Javier Olguin of Garden City, Kansas, Roberto Olguin of Wisconsin, Mario Olguin of Dallas, Texas, David Olguin of Wisconsin, Rafael Olguin of Garden City, Kansas, Fransisco Olguin of San Gil Nieves Zacatecas, Mexico and Jesus Lira of San Gil Nieves Zacatecas, Mexico; 7 sisters, Manuela Lira of Zacatecas, Mexico, Martha Lira of Illinois, Senaida Lira of North Carolina, Baciliza Lira of Zacatecas, Mexico, Marivel Lira of Zacatecas, Mexico and Agueda Olguin of Dallas, Texas
He was preceded in death by one brother, Javier Lira and Letiticia Lira.
Viewing will be 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS. A Rosary service will follow at 7:00pm at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Fr. James P Dieker, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Liberal City Cemetery.
