Leona Gladys Smith

Leona Gladys Smith, 90, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Shepherd’s Center, Cimarron. 

She was born March 18, 1926 at Montezuma, the daughter of George T. and Ella (Koehn) Smith. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker. 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Cimarron. She enjoyed crocheting and was an avid reader. 

On July 29, 1943 she married Elden H. Smith at Dodge City. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1993. 

Survivors include: 6 sons, Eldon Dale Smith and wife Shelly, Cimarron, Tim Smith and wife Marilyn, Cimarron, Garry Smith and wife Rosemary, Assaria, Kansas, Rod Smith and wife Sheryl, Stacyville, Iowa, Mike Smith and companion, Cliffie Wilcox, Cimarron and Jeffery Smith and wife Sharla, Ingalls; a brother, John E. Smith and wife Ellie, Ulysses; a sister, Sara Rose Smith, Garden City; 19 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sandra Nestor, 6 siblings, Martha Ratzlaff, Bert Smith, Marie Ratzlaff, Francis Koehn, Pearl Smith and Grace Smith, a grandson, Preston Smith and a great granddaughter, Arissa Smith. 

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Cimarron, with Rev. Richard Deimund officiating. Burial will follow in the Cimarron Cemetery, Cimarron. Visitation will be Friday from noon to 6:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Cimarron.
