Kent Valere Orebaugh

Kent Valere Orebaugh, 70, died March 1, 2017 at Trinity Manor, Dodge City. He was born December 31, 1946 to Roy W. and Elsie A. (Drewes) Orebaugh at Dodge City. He married Joyce A. Wetzel on June 7, 1969 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Offerle, she survives.

He graduated from Dodge City Senior High in 1964 and attended Dodge City Community College. He enlisted in the Army Reserves. He later worked for Dodge City Implement, and was also a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed being outside, hunting and fishing, snowmobiling, as well as checking cows with his grandsons.

He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where he was an usher and former board of trustees member as well as a former trustee for Royal Township.

Survivors include his three daughters, Jacque Orebaugh; Kylene and husband, Spencer Scott; and Rylene and husband, Andy Hessman all of Dodge City. Three grandchildren, Shaun Scott, Chance Scott and Klayton Hessman. His sister, Sharon Sawvel, Broken Arrow, OK and brother, Mark and wife Cindy Orebaugh, Dodge City. Sister in laws, Joleen Stein and husband, Dale of Spearville and Nita Winfrey and husband Brad, Dodge City, Marlene Wetzel, Hays. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, John and Lydia Drewes and W.D. and Minnie Orebaugh; and a brother, Ralph Maurice Orebaugh.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 6 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at Ridenhour Cemetery, north of Howell following the service.
