Rita Corrales

Rita Corrales, 81, died Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born May 5, 1935 in Temosachic Chihuahua, Mexico the daughter of Jesus & Luciana (Varela) Montes.
Rita grew up with her family in Temosachic Chihuahua, Mexico. On December 4, 1955, she married Leobardo Corrales in Mexico. They moved to Janos Chihuahua, Mexico shortly after their marriage. They later moved to Garden City in 1975 and have lived in Garden City since. A homemaker, Rita enjoyed her pets, gardening, sewing, knitting, and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City.  
Survivors include 8 children Luis (Luisa) Corrales, Mari (Thomas) DeLeon , and Leo Corrales all of Garden City, Kansas, Lucy (Lorenzo) Lopez, Sylvia (Juan) Sanchez, Elsa(Pedro) Erives, and Lilia (Jorge) Rivera all of Phoenix, Arizona, and Eleazar (Yolanda) Corrales of McCallester, Oklahoma; a brother Simon Montes of Mexico; 2 sisters Mercedes Montes and Lucila Montes both of Mexico; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Rita is preceded in death by her husband Leobardo who died on June 26, 1986. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and 3 sisters.
A Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the Cancer Center at St. Catherine Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
