Dorothy May Davis Kreutzer

Dorothy May Davis Kreutzer, 89, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born December 10, 1927 in Cimarron, Kansas the daughter of Ira & Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Horton-Walker) Davis.
Dorothy grew up in Cimarron where she attended school. On September 19, 1958 she married Elmer Kreutzer in Cimarron, Kansas. After their marriage they moved to Garden City. Dorothy later moved back to Cimarron and then to Dodge City. Before her marriage, Dorothy worked at the café in Cimarron and also for the Cimarron Insurance Co. While living in Garden City, she worked at the Garden City Community College cafeteria before going to work for the Minter family at the Garden City Hilton and Widow McGee’s. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Cimarron and she enjoyed gardening and raising turkeys, pheasants, ducks, and chickens.
Survivors include a daughter Teresa (Vern) Nightengale of Copeland, KS; a son Rodney “Rod” (Karen) Kreutzer of Aurora, MO; a step-son Richard (Celeste) Kreutzer of Iuka, Mississippi; two brothers Howard Dean Davis of Ft. Dodge, KS and Floyd Davis of Pierceville, KS; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Elmer who died on March 2, 2014. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother Earnie Davis; and a sister Mary Beth Koehn.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma, Kansas. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Thursday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family request memorials given to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
