Bennie F. Johns

Bennie F. Johns, 84, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at her home in Dodge City. 

She was born May 1, 1932 at Gould, Oklahoma, the daughter of David and Blanche (Wright) McCubbin. She moved to Dodge City 52 years ago from Enid, Oklahoma. She was a receptionist at the Dodge City Medical Center for many years until retiring May 17, 1997. 

She attended the Dodge City Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. 

On November 5, 1966 she married Roxie “Rocky” Johns at Guymon, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2009. 

Survivors include: her son, David Flaherty and wife, Marci, Dodge City; 2 daughters, Vickie Fellingham and husband Dave, Mannford, Oklahoma and Kayla Speer and husband Kenny, Dodge City; a brother, Frankie McCubbin and wife Karon, Weatherford, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Linda Hill and husband Richard, Guymon, Oklahoma and Colleen Petree, Yantis, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Jason Fellingham and wife Tiffany, Casi Lane and husband Jeff, Trista Wasson and Krista Hill and 5great grandchildren, Preston, Anna and Matthew Fellingham and Riley and Cole Lane; and a host of nephews and nieces. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Anthony Mark Alexander, a brother, Bobby McCubbin, an infant brother, David Lewis McCubbin, a grandson, Taylor Flaherty and a brother-in-law, Bob Petree. 

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Dodge City Church of Christ, with Gary Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. 

The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
