Betty Jean Gregg
Betty Jean Gregg, 83, died November 16, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on September 5, 1933 at Houston, Missouri the daughter of David and Nellie (Gaddy) Mathis.
On May 22, 1954, Betty married Donald Gregg at the Methodist Church in Hutchinson, Kansas, he survives. She and Don moved to Dodge City in February 1956 where they would make their home. They had four children to this union, Gay, Beth, Jan and Gil. Betty was mostly a stay at home mom, later working part-time at Tandy’s Hallmark Store. She and Don enjoyed four cruise vacations together. Over the years, she attended many Dodge City JR/SR High School events as well as DCCC baseball games.
She was a member of the Dodge City First United Methodist Church, serving as a Stephen Minister, Western Plains Medical Complex Pink Lady volunteer and participated in a couples Supper Club and various Ladies Bridge Clubs.
She is survived by two daughters Gay Hughes and husband Don of Wichita; Jan Goodwin and husband Tom of Cleveland, Tennessee; one daughter-in-law Barbara Nebbleing and husband Dirk of Dodge City as well as six grandchildren Matt, Zach, Emma, Olivia, Allison and Betsy and two great grandchildren Charlieanne and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Jack, one daughter Beth and a son Gil.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerre Nolte presiding. A Private burial will be held at a late date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
