GC Boys Cross County Regional Champs
Wichita, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Four years ago, the Garden City boys stunned most experts by qualifying for state with a group of freshman.
In 2016, it’s now expected.
Marcus Tula spearheaded the Buffaloes back to state with a first-place finish during Saturday’s cross county regional meet at Cessna Stadium.
“It feels good to be going back,” Tula said. “I’m really proud of how our team performed.”
Garden City edged out Dodge City by a single point for the team title. Tula won the individual crown, followed by Erik Chaparro and Javier Cervantes.
On the girls side, Garden City failed to qualify as a team but did send two individuals: Aileen Gurrola and freshman Makaylee Longoria.
