Marriage: to Shirley Acton on April 16, 1971 at Garden City

Robert moved with his family to the family farm on the Pawnee in the Kalvesta area in 1951 and attended White Mound school. He graduated from Dighton High School in 1959 and played football at Garden City Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Collett. After his discharge he attended the College of Automation in Kansas City and then he returned to Garden City and worked at Garden City Co-op as the Data Processing Supervisor and then went to Cimarron Insurance where he was the Machine Room Supervisor. He later sold commodities and managed the family farm. In 1979 he started working as a Materials Foreman and Steel Assembly Foreman for Irby Construction and traveled over the country building Electric Power Lines and later did the same thing building Wind Towers. He was preceded in death by his Parents & Brother- Hubert Mai.
