Scott City girls second, boys fifth at Hugoton Cross Country Invitational
Hugoton, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–For the second straight Saturday, the Scott City cross country teams hit the paths, this time in Hugoton on Saturday. It was a good running overall for the Beavers, who got a taste of what they will see when the GWAC meet will take place in October. The Lady Beavers finished in a distant second, while the boys were fifth.
On the girls side, Makaela Stevens finished in fifth place with a time of 20:37.80, followed by Olivia Prieto in 12th (22:06.48), Dulce Ayala 13th (22:06.78), Trella Davis 17th (22:22.82), Paige Winderlin 25th (22:33.11), Kodi Rogers 37th (24:45.83) and Aly Trango finished in 48th with a time of 25:54.39. Scott City finished behind Liberal, who won the meet with 30 points. The Lady Beavers had 65 points and Hugoton finished in third with 85 points.
As for the boys, Jack Thomas picked up his second win in three meets, winning with a time of 16:36.67, Conner LeBeau was 16th (17:46.39), Austin Rios 27th (18:35.26), Drew Duff 28th (18:38.85), Theron Tucker 33rd (18:55.25) and Eric Frances placed 44th with a time of 19:35.25. The Beavers placed fifth with 94 points. Lamar, CO won the meet with 75 points, while Hugoton was second with 80 points, and Liberal and Stanton County finished third and fourth respectively with 93 points. Liberal won on criteria.
Up next for Scott City will be the Stanton County Invitational on Saturday.
