New Gun Law About to Put GCCC and Other Colleges on the Spot
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Ahead of a new state law allowing concealed carry of guns on campus by July of next year colleges across the state are looking at their security measures. Colleges could still prohibit concealed carry if proper security measures are in place. GCCC Police Chief Rodney Dozier does not think its practical for them.
Dozier is worried even if used in self defense there will be unintended consequences of the new law.
Studies show even a trained shooter’s accuracy goes down when under duress creating even greater danger. Some are hoping the legislature will re-visit the issue next year.
