New Look Demon Football Team Molding into Shape

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)  Day two of the practice schedule wrapped up for the Dodge City High School Football team wrapped up with a lot of positive comments from both the players and coaches.  Several drills focused on coverages for the defense and nailing down key throws for both the quarterbacks and wide receivers in solidifying the communication as part of the offensive game plan.

Although up to twenty seniors return from last year’s team that won the WAC title, Dave Foster’s group will be a bit more limited in their experience this season.  The goal especially in the trenches is to be strong up front on both offense and defense.  Speed should be a good attribute for this team at all the specialty positions and in the secondary.

Wednesday Dodge City started implementing some new aspects of their packages.  There were a lot of new things to learn as it was the first day of school for all students in the district.

The hope is all the players will settle into a routine before Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.  Afterwards the coaches will evaluate the players and start giving those listed on the two deep more reps in preparation for the season opening game September 2nd against Wichita West.
