Budget Passed, DCHS Ring of Honor Announced

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Monday night during the school board meeting at USD 443 two important things happened.  First the school board gave final approval to this year’s budget to remain at 57.06 mills for a second consecutive year. Then Dodge City High School Principal Jacque Feist announced the two newest inductees to the Ring of Honor.

It was announced Dodge City Superintendent Alan Cunningham and Former DCHS Football Coach and Athletics Director J.C. Riekenberg will both be inducted into the Ring of Honor at the Red Demons first football game September 2.   This year Cunningham will wrap up 43 years in the school district before retiring.

Riekenberg led Dodge to their only state football championship in 1970.  Current Athletics Director Jay Gifford says Riekenberg’s attention to detail made him a winner.

Riekenberg retired after 28 years as Athletics Director in 1999 and still has close ties to the program.
