Western Kansas connection at 43rd annual Kansas Shrine Bowl
Emporia, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-When Holcomb quarterback Trey Teeter arrived in Salina to begin prepping for the 43rd annual Kansas Shrine Bowl Game, he looked more relaxed than ever.
How could that be?
His explanation quickly made sense.
“Going up against Cooper Griffith and Ian Rudzik during the season was tough,” he said. “Being on the same team as those guys was a breath of fresh air.”
Teeter took full advantage of his weaponry late in the first half when he connected with Rudzik on a 23-yard score that put the West on top 20-19. The touchdown erased an early 19-0 deficit.
Teeter finished the night 5-for-11 for 71 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Rudzik had 2 carries for 22 yards and one catch for 23. Garden City Community College signee Harley Hazlett caught three balls for 79 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown reception from Butler quarterback Brady Rust.
Dodge City wide receiver Eric Reid, who will walk on to the Conquistadors baseball team, caught two passes for minus-1 yard.
