Juan was born and raised in Sombrerete Zacatecas, Mexico. He worked in the Bracero Program before marrying and establishing a family. He and his family resided in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico before immigrating to Garden City on July 4, 1977. He drove for various truck companies in the US and Mexico for over 50 years. Before retiring, he was employed at Wal-Mart, where he enjoyed greeting friends. He was a founder of the The Matachines, a traditional Indian dance group that dance for the feast of the Virgin Of Guadalupe celebrated on December 12th. The Matachines are still an active group at St. Mary Catholic Church. His favorite pastimes include: carne asadas with his family, traveling to Colorado Springs (where he was fascinated watching the wild deers on the porch.) Every opportunity, he traveled to Mexico to see his son Enrique and work on the family home, his favorite place to eat was Golden Corral followed by catching up with his friends at Wal-Mart. He liked watching baseball, The Animal Planet, CNN, and boxing when he was not out walking with his grandkids. He enjoyed shoe shining, working on cars, and sharing stories of his childhood memories to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Jose Esquivel & Manuela Rodriguez. Children- Martin Esquivel, Lazara Esquivel, Fernando Esquivel, Jesus Esquivel, Maria del Refugio Esquivel, Maria Esquivel, Jose Esquivel, Siblings- Antonio Esquivel, Margarita Esquivel de Martinez and grandson Jacob Nathaniel Esquivel.
