Gene grew up in Scott City and graduated from Scott City High School in 1980. He lived in several places before moving to Garden City and in 1993 becoming a Mechanic for Southwind Country Club which later became The Golf Club at Southwind.  

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother- Mike West & Sister- Carolyn Hinojosa
