Five more Broncbusters sign with four-year schools
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Garden City Head Football Coach Jeff Sims made a promise when he first arrived on campus in December of 2014.
“Garden City Community College will become opportunity USA.”
That slogan stands out very clear and is the first thing you see on a poster inside the football offices.
So it is to no one’s surprise that five more Broncbuster football players landed at four-year schools on Wednesday.
Defensive back Edward Rolle signed at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, an FCS program; corner Andrew Brown will play at Florida International, running back Eddie Morris and quarterback Nick Sprague are headed to Southeast Missouri State while wide receiver Jeff Thomas signed with D-II Tarleton State in Texas.
“I’ve said it all along: Garden City is not the final destination for these guys; we’re the bridge for their next opportunity,” Sims said. “That’s what we are about here.”
In all, 18 players from last year’s squad have signed to play elsewhere. That number should grow to 19 in the coming days as linebacker Myles Matthews has offers from three different schools: Minnesota State Mankato, Colorado State University Pueblo and Nebraska Kearney.
