Economic Development Encouraged About What Landbank Could Do
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) A second joint meeting of the Garden City and Finney County Commissions took a closer look on what a landbank means and how it could be used. Landbanks put property back on the tax rolls when owners essentially abandon upkeep and are delinquent in paying their taxes. President and CEO Lona DuVall believes exploring landbanks as an option offers potential solution to a growing problem.
What about recruitment for potential buyers of these dilapidated properties? DuVall says her group can step in to help find new owners.
Even if approved by both the city and county commission it could take up to six months to sort out all the details of creating a landbank.
