Leslie D. Jobe
Leslie D. Jobe died May 25, 2016, in Zanesville, Ohio, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born October 9, 1943 in Gloucester, Mass., to Floyd G. and Roberta (Knowles) Davis. When she was six years old the family moved to Dodge City, Kansas. She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1961. She was Miss McCarty Speedway in the early 60s.
She married Dennis Stegman in 1961 and they had four children. They were divorced. In 1981 she married Wayne Jobe. Leslie was involved in the Dodge City Garden Club, Iris Society, Sacred Heart Altar Society and bowling leagues. She taught painting at Happiness Is. Wayne’s jobs took them to Midland, TX, Houston, TX, Omaha, NE, Roswell, NM, Owensboro, KY, and Zanesville. Leslie was a prolific gardener and could grow anything, but Iris were by far her favorite flowers. At one time she had over 700 varieties. In all the cities she lived in, she either joined or started a garden club, Iris society or pond society. She and Wayne also judged Iris shows throughout the country. She was a gifted artist and painter.
Leslie is survived by her devoted husband Wayne; children Denise Riedel and husband Charlie, Overland Park, KS, Sabrina Howerton and husband Doug, Cape Coral, FL, Steve Stegman and wife Judith, Texarkana, TX, and Chris Stegman and wife Debbie, Hays, KS; stepchildren Rusty Jobe and wife Bharathi and Nikki Conlon and husband Paul; grandchildren Andy Riedel, Overland Park, Josh Edge, Bloomington, IN, Elizabeth Hiatt and husband Thomas, Lenexa, KS, Curtis Edge, Bowling Green, KY, Steven Stegman and fiancée Tara, Simms, TX, Garreth Stegman, Hays, Shelby Stegman, Hays, Victoria Stegman, Gilmer, TX, Katherine Riedel Overland Park, and Rebecca Stegman, Hays; step-grandchildren Brittainy Howerton and fiancé Jordan Whelan, Cape Coral, Casey Bouldin and wife Erika, Dallas, TX, Jennifer Snyder and husband Dustin, Crystal Rose and Lilly Rose, all of Texarkana, Aaron Jobe and Johnathan Conlon; great-granddaughters Ava, Zoie, Haiden and Charli and two more great-granddaughters due before the end of the year; sisters Betty Gallaway, Crystal City, MO, Christine Lowery and husband Tom, Dodge City, KS, and Stephanie Koenke and husband Richard, Dodge City; and her wonderful dog Feisty.
A memorial service will be held on June 27, 2016, at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. The family suggests memorials to your local hospice.
