Unforced Errors Cost GCHS Lady Buff Netters a Sweep in their Pink Night Quad-Audio
Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – Even getting a slow start in each of their three matches in their Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Night Quad, the Garden City Lady Buffs still had their chances to sweep their home stand. Garden City would open with Ulysses and struggled early but fought back losing the first set 21-25 but taking the next two 25-22 and 25-21. In the marque matches of the night with Scott City and Dodge City, the Lady Buffs would start slow in both of those matches as well, but prevailed against the Lady Beavers 24-26, 25-18 and 25-12. In the final match with rival Dodge City it was a continuation of the slow beginning and the unforced errors that hampered the Lady Buffs all night. Garden City would drop the opening set to the Lady Red Demons 15-25, then bounce back to crush Dodge City 25-12 in maybe their best performance in a set all year. In a tight third and final set, it was missed serves, unforced errors and maybe some lack of focus, giving way to the Lady Red Demons to take the 5th Annual Quad with 25-23 final set score. Lady Buffs Coach Sara Stecki comments on the Quad and her teams performance.
