Gerald grew up farming and ranching with his family in Lane County and graduated from Dighton High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve National Guard until 1964. In the late 60’s he moved to Garden City and worked as a welder and truck driver before getting in the trenching and backhoe business and then starting his own trenching and backhoe service in 1973. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying and building woodworking projects. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 5 Brothers- Giles, Paul, Charles, Keith & Roger & 1 Sister- Berdyna Wheeler.
