Steven Charles Doll
Steven Charles Doll, age 64, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at his home in Hays. He was born August 23, 1951 in Scott City, the son of Wayne L. & Norma R. (Thompson) Doll. Steve attended elementary school in Amy, Kansas before graduating in 1969 from St. Joseph’s Military Academy in Hays. After serving in the United States Marine Corp, he made his home in rural Lane County farming the family farm and also working at Healy Coop Elevator. For the last 20 years he worked as a crop insurance adjustor. In his spare time Steve enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards and watch his favorite local sports teams. He was a member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus #3210 and also a past commander of American Legion Post #190 of Dighton.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Robert Doll and 1 sister-in-law, Roxie Doll. Survivors include his 3 children, Gabe Doll and wife Shirley, Stella, NC; Manon Doll-McGhee and husband Carl, Platte City, MO; George Doll and wife, Kristen, Smithville, MO; 9 grandchildren, Tonya, Steven, Mark, Evan, Andrew, Caden, Brayden, Brody & Aaliyah; several great grandchildren; 1 brother, Gary Doll, Hutchinson, KS; 2 sisters, Wanel & Bill Elliott, Maize, KS and Leah & Mark Shapland, Dighton, KS & 4 nieces & nephews.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Dighton, with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Burial will follow at Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Military graveside rites conducted by the Kansas National Guard Honor Guard and American Legion Post #190 Honor Guard. There will be no calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior’s Project in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
