Accident on Tractor Kills 67 Year Old Man
Deerfield, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Kearny County Sheriff says a 67 year old man from Deerfield died Monday night when a grain auger tipped over and fell on to the tractor he was riding. Deputies responded to the scene and found James Morphew pinned under the auger and unconscious.
A 14 year old girl told authorities Morphew was helping her learn how to drive a tractor and when she was told to back up that’s when the auger tipped over. Attempts to correct the situation resulted in the accident and Morphew had to push the girl out of the way when the auger fell on him.
