Butler injury overshadows scoreless tie for GCHS soccer
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-With her left knee wrapped with ice after the match, Tiffany Butler sat in a cart, off to the side of Buffalo Stadium.
“I think I’ll be alright,” the senior star said.
For the Buffaloes, they’re hoping that statement rings true.
Garden City and TMP-Marian played to a scoreless tie Tuesday night. But as soon as the two teams shook hands, the thoughts of the Buffalo players shifted to Butler.
“We hope she’s okay,” Head Coach Joaquin Padilla said. “We need her.”
Butler was injured in the second half after taking a shot to her knee. Her team, which has struggled to score in recent games, could never mount any serious scoring threats without her.
The Monarchs had several changes to score in the two overtime periods, but Ashlee Richamn sent back each attempt.
