Dispatchers Learning New Tool to Help Them in Their Job
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) When precious seconds count the ability of police dispatchers to do their jobs efficiently can save lives. This month Garden City Police are learning a new Computer Assisted Dispatch system or CAD. Dispatcher Keeri Johnson says in a job that requires a whole lot of multi-tasking this at least will give her one less thing to worry about.
Training on the new program is expected to last a couple of weeks.
Friday wraps up National Telecommunicators Week a seven day span honoring those who take 911 emergency calls and send help when it is needed. Johnson talks about the most rewarding part of her job.
The application process can get lengthy, but the good news there is always a need for dispatchers. Check out the City of Garden City website at www.garden-city.org.
