Kansas Realtors Continue Support For Property Tax Lid with Exceptions
(westernkansasnews.com) When the legislature reconvenes April 27th they will consider whether or not to reinsert exemptions for the property tax lid put on cities and county governments last year. Luke Bell Vice President of Government Affairs at the Kansas Association of Realtors on why their organization wanted to bring back the property tax lid for the first time since 1999.
Bell realizes economic development could be affected with the way the law stands now.
If a local government wants to raise property taxes beyond the current level of inflation the law now states they have to put the issue before the voters.
