Elvin attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School in 1955. He attended Garden City Community College and then majored in Animal Husbandry at Kansas State University. He served in the US Army and then returned to the area and was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He enjoyed working in his garden and orchard, building things for his grandchildren and serving others in his church. Earlier he was a 4-H Leader. He was preceded in death by his Parents & 2 Brothers- Donald Caldwell & Irvin Caldwell.
