Changing the Federal Government? First Attempt at Convention of States Fails
Lakin, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Some leading constitutional advocates say there is only one way to control the growing power of government and its not through a presidential election, but by a convention of the states. The Kansas House debate the measure recently before ultimately turning it down. In the end State Representative Russ Jennings of Lakin voted for the convention.
Jennings also addressed the concerns that even if a convention has good intentions it could backfire.
The convention is called for as a process in Article V of the Constitution. Other states are considering similar measures.
