Despite Talks to Remove; Food Tax Likely to Remain For Now

Lakin, KS (westernkansasnews.com) There has been talk about lifting the food tax since a report came out that Kansas is losing 320 million dollars in revenue to neighboring states by keeping the tax. Representative Russ Jennings of Lakin says losing that money could have made a difference.

A total repeal presents other problems.

Jennings believes legislators would have to revisit hiking the income tax, but that issue is not expected to go anywhere with Governor Brownback. It does not leave a lot of options for making this change for now.
