Lady Demons Use Big Run to Beat Hays 48-20
Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City High School girls’ basketball team made a statement on Tuesday night. If you want to win the WAC title, you have to go through them.
The Lady Red Demons and Hays Lady Indians played to a scoreless tie over the first three minutes and Hays held close through the eight minutes missing a jumper that would have tied the game at eight. That is when the Demons took control of the game winning 48-20.
Dodge outscored Hays 35-6 over the next two quarters hitting a barrage of threes. Bailey Shelor scored in double figures for the second straight game hitting 3/7 from beyond the arc for 13 points. Tia Bradshaw led the team with 17 points.
The Red Demons also controlled the paint. Kaylyn Maple had four of the team’s seven block shots and limited the Indians to 6/40 shooting at 15 percent for the entire game.
Dodge City will have a nine game break between their Tuesday night win and their next game. Dodge City (7-3, 3-0 WAC) will take the court next Thursday in Newton as part of the 8 team Tournament of Champions.
