One Reason Budget Deal Was Frowned Upon By Local Municipalities

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The budget agreement Kansas legislators passed last year is expected to put the squeeze on local municipal governments. In the agreement, the state put a cap on how much local governments could raise property taxes. Garden City Manager Matt Allen says this was something thrown in there at the last minute.

Allen says the state needs to listen better.

Lobbying efforts will attempt to lift the new rule, but its unclear if those efforts will produce any results.
