Dorelia Carrillo
Dorelia Carrillo, 57, left this world for another on January 2, 2016 in her Garden City, KS home among close family and friends. She was born December 3, 1958 in San Antonio, TX to Eugene R. and Eufemia (Zamarripa) Ortega.
Dora grew up in Garden City, KS. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1976. She worked for USD #457 as a Bilingual Paraprofessional for 19 years. In 2013, after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Science with Newman University, she fulfilled her dream to become an elementary school teacher.
Dora married Jacinto Carrillo, Sr. on March 14, 1981 in Garden City, KS. They were happily married for 34 years and were only a few months shy of celebrating their 35 year Anniversary. Together they raised six children and were later blessed with 16 grandchildren. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa with the Garden City Community College and graduated summa cum laude from both GCCC and Newman University.
She was a lifelong member of The Salvation Army church and organization where she dedicated a majority of her volunteer time with her husband and oftentimes grandchildren. Her hobbies included singing and entertaining family and friends, arts and crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a generous giver of time, love and self.
