Leonard G. (Lenny) Burnett, Jr.
Leonard G. (Lenny) Burnett, Jr., age 60 died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at his home in Dighton. He was born June 18, 1955 in Scott City, Kansas the son of Leonard George & Lillian Mary (Hunsley) Burnett.
Lenny grew up in Dighton where, among other activities, he was a member of the local Boy Scout Troop. He graduated from Dighton High School in 1974. He helped his dad on the family farm until it was sold and worked at Lane County Feeders for 40 years, retiring as the feed mill foreman.
Lenny liked the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawk basketball. He was a member of the First Christian Church and had been a deacon and trustee there.
In 1975 Lenny married Darlene Edwards. On May 20, 1983 he married Marcille D. Morehouse. She survives. Other survivors include 2 children, Clarrisa Fain of Kansas City, Kansas and Lance Burnett of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; 3 stepchildren, whom he thought of as his own, Robert Hines of Valdosta, Georgia, Charity Hines of Beaverton, Oregon and Mollie Miller of Wichita; 3 sisters, Betty Terhune of Dighton, Elsie Pitts of Lindsborg and Peggy Cooley of Healy; 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lenny was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and 2 sisters; Mary Moore and Sarah Fuller.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Dighton with Rev. Aerii Smith officiating. There will be no calling hours. The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do a kind deed for someone in remembrance of Lenny.
