Mary M. (Heit) Werner
Mary M. (Heit) Werner, 97, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at Via Christi Village, Pittsburg, Kansas.
She was born October 26, 1918 at Offerle, the daughter of Anton and Margaret (Geist) Heit. She attended Business College in Wichita and in October 1944 she married Bernard Werner in Kinsley. They farmed in Morris and Wabaunsee Counties until his death on August 9, 1959 and in 1964 moved to Dodge City. For 13 years she was a secretary at Trinity Hospital, later Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, until her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Daughters of Isabella and Altar Society all in Dodge City.
Survivors include: 4 sons, Melvin and wife Judy, Wichita, Stanley and wife Suzy, Olathe, Kansas, Kenneth and wife Elaine, Springfield, Missouri and Mark and wife Lauren, Pittsburg; 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Joseph, Peter and Paul Heit and 3 sisters, Anna Gerstberger, Katie Brown and Virginia Burkhart.
Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 4:00 pm Monday, December 21, 2015 and vigil service at 7:00 pm Monday both at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Spearville. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
