Abel Israel Gonzalez

Abel Israel Gonzalez was born 45 years ago in Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico. He moved to United States when he was a teen. While living in Kansas, he met a beautiful woman, Maria Isabel Vargas. They were married in 1999. Abel was ecstatic with the birth of his son Israel and even more with the birth of their second son, Aaron. Abel was a man of great integrity and hard work. And when it was time for fun, he loved to take his wife dancing where he enjoyed cumbia and listening to norteña music. Everyone who knew Abel knew he had a sense of humor that put everyone around him at ease. He was also a man of faith and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. On Friday, December 11th, 2015. Abel’s life was tragically taken.

The family will miss Abel for the rest of their lives, but they are comforted that Abel knew that he was loved by them with all their hearts. Abel is survived by his loving wife, Maria; his sons, Israel and Aaron; his father, Roberto Gonzalez; his sisters, Dolores Gonzalez and Maria Del Pilar Gonzalez; his brothers, Humberto Gonzalez and Alejandro Gonzalez and his beloved dog, Chihuahua Mikey. He was preceded in death by his mother, Estefana Gonzalez and his sister, Maria del Refugio Gonzalez.

Calling hours will be at Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th Street in Garden City on Wednesday, December 16th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, December 17th from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. Vigil services will be on Thursday, December 17th at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas. The funeral services will be at the same location on Friday, December 18th at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Valley View Cemetery.
