Scott City Volleyball Goes 2-1 in Oakley Quadrangular
Oakley, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Lady Beaver team continued their busiest week of the season Thursday, with a quadrangular in Oakley, against Colby, Hoxie and Oakley.
Their first match of the day would be a thriller against league rival Colby. The Lady Eagles and Lady Beavers each had one loss going into the match. Colby would take the first set 25-19, but the Lady Beavers rallied to take sets two and three 25-23 and 25-22 in thrilling fashion.
It would be a quick turnaround for their next match, as Scott City faced the host school Oakley. The Lady Beavers would dominate the first set 25-17. Oakley would push the Lady Beavers in the final set, but it would be a Scott City victory, as the led a majority of the way 25-22.
In their final match of the evening, the Lady Beavers took on a solid Hoxie team, who suffered their first loss of the season the previous match to Colby. All three sets would go back and forth, as the Lady Indians took the first set 26-24. Scott City took the second set 25-20, and forced a third and final set. In the third set, Hoxie went on a big run about midway through and never looked back, winning the set and match 25-16.
With a 2-1 day, Scott City is now 7-2 on the season. They will continue their busy week Saturday at the Liberal Invitational. The Lady Beavers will face Liberal and Hugoton in pool play, before bracket play begins in the afternoon.
