Benghazi and Army Vet Paronto Speaks at GCCC
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Garden City Community College welcomed a special guest speaker on Tuesday. Army Ranger Chris Paronto was in Benghazi, Libya when the consulate was attacked on September 11, 2012. Paronto and others knew the danger that existed, but their warnings went unanswered.
Four Americans died that day including former Ambassador Chris Stevens. The hardest part was being told repeatedly to stand down when Paronto and others were being asked for help.
Paronto is one of the authors of “13 hours” detailing what happened. The issue unfortunately has now become a political football.
The book has been made into a movie that is due out early next year. Paronto believes it was important for the truth to come out especially for the four families who lost loved ones in the Benghazi attacks.
