Jeremy Faulk named conference co-defensive player of the year

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-His season started with a bang; a strip sack that sealed the Broncbusters 36-28 upset-win over Highland in the season opener. Then there was his one-yard scoring plunge as Garden City knocked off top-ranked Butler in El Dorado.

Instead of naming Jeremy Faulk defensive player of the year; maybe the sophomore transfer from Florida Atlantic would have been better suited being named Jayhawk athlete of the year.

“He’s one of the fastest guys on the team,” Head Coach Jeff Sims said before the Butler game.

Faulk led the brown and gold with 16.5 tackles for loss.

Meantime safety Trayvone Blake was named to the all-Jayhawk first-team, recording four interceptions; 2 of those coming in a loss at Independence.

Defensive back Lonnie Johnson and linebacker Gabe Luyanda were named to the second team , while offensive lineman Donald Rocker, defensive lineman Andrew Basham and linebacker Delshawn Phillips made the second team.
