Ensign, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It has been an awful holiday weekend on Kansas roads.  Four deaths have been reported, one of them a motorcyclist who was not wearing his helmet and three where the victim did not have their seatbelt on.  Locally the only victim wearing a seatbelt died in a crash three miles west of Ensign on US 56 Friday afternoon shortly after 4.

65 year old Cornelius Loewen of Sublette was driving his pickup that struck the first and second axle of a semi while the other driver attempted a right turn.  The impact forced both vehicles in the ditch.  Loewen died at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.  The other driver was uninjured.
