Albert “Skip” Birdsill, Jr.

Albert “Skip” Birdsill, Jr., 59, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. 

He was born April 22, 1956 at Kremmling, Colorado, the son of Albert and Shirley (Shonyo) Birdsill, Sr.. He lived in Colorado for many years and then moved to Ulysses. A Ft. Dodge resident since February 2014, he worked as a maintenance worker at a hospital and lumber yard. 

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father as well as playing cards and telling war stories with his friends at Ft. Dodge. 

He served in the United States Air Force. 

Survivors include: his mother, Ulysses; a brother and 3 sisters, Theresa Pucket and husband David, Ulysses, Jim Birdsill and wife Karen, Glendale, Arizona, Tammy Allen and husband Jess, Battle Creek, Michigan and Kim Helfenbien and husband DeWayne, Gallup, New Mexico. 

He was preceded in death by his father. 

Memorial Graveside services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge with Manford Koehn officiating and full military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. 

The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Soldiers Home for the benefit of Lincoln Hall in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
