Wanda Louise Johnson

Wanda Louise Johnson, 87, died August 8, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Solutions in Dodge City. She was born on May 7, 1928 in Dodge City, the daughter of Harold M. and Wanita (Holland) Hoadley. 

Wanda was a lifetime resident of Dodge City. She was a 1946 graduate of Dodge City High School. On August 21, 1949, she married Loyal Johnson at First Christian Church in Dodge City. He survives. Wanda worked for Roth Jewelers and was a receptionist for Dr. Chris Breitenbach both of Dodge City. Wanda was an avid collector. She had many collections, including dolls, bells, and Beanie Babies. 

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City where she was active in women’s groups, teacher of the two year old Sunday school class for 30 years, and Bible school teacher. Wanda was also part of the Win A Couple Sunday school class. 

Wanda is survived by her husband, Loyal Johnson of Dodge City; three sons, Lynn Johnson of Waynesville, Missouri, David Johnson and wife Sharyl of Dodge City, and Kevin Johnson and wife Robin of Gentry, Arkansas; one daughter, Marsha Shultz and husband Barry of Lansing; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Lana Johnson; a brother, Bill Hoadley; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Stivers. 

Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Dodge City on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Mr. David Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from noon to 8:00 P.M..
