Matula to lead Broncbuster volleyball

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-After a comprehensive search, Garden City Community College has hired Jacquelynne  Matula as their next Head Volleyball Coach.

“I’m so excited to have this opportunity,” Matula said. “The things that immediately stood out to me were the people in this community and everyone I met during the interview process.”

Matula replaces Harvey Sanders, who resigned earlier this month following two up-and-down campaigns to take a job with a club team in Texas.

“There will be an adjustment period,” Matula added. “But I’m excited for the opportunity.”

Matula comes to Garden City after spending the last two seasons as an assistant at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, where the Cougars qualified for the NJCAA volleyball championships in 2014.

Before landing at Western Nebraska, Matula was an undergraduate assistant coach at her alma mater Texas A&M International. She was a three-year starter for the Dustdevils at middle blocker.

Matula is originally from Corpus Christi, TX, and graduated from Calallen High School.
