Leona G. Preston, 93, died August 4, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on December 14, 1921 in Belvidere, Nebraska the daughter of Roy Eugene and Mabel Nell (Riggs) Woker. 

Leona graduated from high school in Cedar Point, Kansas. On August 24, 1958 she married Kenneth Marion Preston in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1992. Leona worked as the office manager for Gibson’s Discount Center in Dodge City for 22 years until her retirement. After retirement, Leona stayed very active. She was a tour guide for the Home of Stone Museum. Leona was very involved with the Foster Grandparent Program, where she helped elementary students at Soule with reading and math and played the role of grandma to many children. She enjoyed many other activities including shopping, cooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and traveling with family. 

Leona is survived by three children, Gregory Lynn Preston and wife Tamie of Dodge City, Kenneth Mark Preston and wife Jeryn of Neosho, Missouri, and Lavonne Blount and husband Dale of Vinita, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Michele Jenkins and husband Jim, John Williams and wife Mandy, James Williams, Aaron Preston, Joel Preston and wife Katie, Isaac Preston and wife Allison, and Shelbie Williams and husband Daniel; 14 great grandchildren, Bailie and Brooke Templeton, Allie Jenkins, Kaitlyn and Kayleigh Williams, Madison and Hevyn Williams, Braxton Randall, Kylie Preston, Briggs, Ryker, Bristol, and Ainslee Williams, and Brekyn Preston.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; one grandson, Joshua Preston; two sisters, Fern Preston and June Cowley; and one brother, Carl Woker. 

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Mr. Richard Crockett presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, August 7, 2015 from noon to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Christian Church New Building Fund or Foster Grandparent Program at Soule Elementary in care of the funeral home.
