One more game; Scott City’s Baker to play in Saturday’s Shrine Bowl

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Add Sloan Baker to a long list of Scott City Beavers to play in the Kansas Shrine Bowl. On Saturday, Baker will put on the pads for one final time. In doing so, he’ll be the 26th player from Scott City to play in a Shrine Bowl, dating back to 1975. 

This is also the seventh straight year that a Scott City Beaver has been selected for the state’s football all-star game that benefits Shriners Hospitals. Sloan’s older brother Ron was selected to play in the 2011 Shrine Bowl, but was unable to due to Wichita State basketball playing in Brazil during that time. Sloan is also the ninth Beaver in the last 10 season to be selected.

The Butler Community College baseball signee caught 42 passes for 665 yards with eight touchdowns, and also rushed the ball two times for 14 yards and a touchdown in 2014. Defensively, Baker had 107 tackles and had four interceptions. 

Saturday’s game will kick off at 7 pm at Lewis Field Stadium in Hays.
