Betty L. Bookstore

Betty L. Bookstore, age 92, of Elkhart, Kansas died July 6, 2015, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton, Kansas.  She was born October 16, 1922, in Liberal, Kansas the daughter of John and Sara K. (Lane) Hull.

Betty grew up in Liberal.  She has lived in Elkhart since 1939.  Betty married John Harold Bookstore in 1940 in Elkhart.  She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  She was very active in the church, helping with the cleaning and cooking, and taught catechism. 

Survivors include one son, Nick Bookstore and wife Lou of Elkhart, Kansas; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1985; daughter, Nancy Martyn; sons, John Harold Bookstore Jr., and James Vernon Bookstore; sisters, Gertrude Collins, Mary Collins, and  Hadean Fink; brother, John A. Hull; and granddaughter, Donna.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart, Kansas with Reverend Frances Khoi Nguyen officiating.  Interment will follow at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart.  Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.  Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS  67950.
